This time, set in Africa! Amahl and The Night Visitors tells the touching tale of Amahl, a crippled shepherd boy, who lives with his poor, widowed mother.
One evening Amahl and his mother are visited by three richly-dressed strangers with gifts for a new-born Child. These three strangers ask for shelter for the night and during the course of that fateful night a miracle happens!
Written by Gian Carlo Menotti in 1951, Amahl and The Night Visitors is an opera in one act (about 50 minutes) and is an excellent introduction to Opera for people of all ages!
The Opera will be the first half of the performance. The second half is called A Choral Celebration of Christmas and it's a varied selection of Christmas music, both well-loved and new - including a performance of Christopher Tin's popular and rousing Baba Yetu
Baraka Opera Kenya is staging Amahl and The Night Visitors at the Braeburn Theatre, Gitanga Road on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December (3pm & 6pm both days).
Come along to this perfect introduction to the Holiday Season - you'll be enchanted!
